Earth Day 2025: our energy, our planet — wattss takes a stand
Imagine a day when millions of people around the world set a sign at the same time – for clean air, living oceans, stable ecosystems and a more just world. Earth Day on 22 April 2025 is exactly that day. Under this year’s motto “Our Energy, Our Planet”, it calls on us to take our responsibility as a society, economy and individuals seriously – and to actively help build a better future. We at wattss also believe that every action counts – especially when it is driven by genuine conviction.
A global movement that connects
Earth Day is no longer just a symbolic date in the calendar – it has become the world’s largest environmental movement. Every 22 April, millions of people around the world set a powerful sign for the planet.
And 2025 will be another milestone: Over 550 cities and municipalities are organizing events that promote local climate action – from information events to participatory energy projects. At the same time, 100 universities in the USA are committed to mobilizing students, advancing sustainable projects, thinking new ideas and driving real change.
Even more remarkable is the educational boost: Around 1 million schools worldwide are integrating climate education into their curriculum – a strong signal that sustainability is not only learned but also lived. In parallel, the global initiative “The Great Global Cleanup” is entering a new round – with the goal of removing over 3,400 tonnes of waste from our environment. These are mountains of plastic, scrap metal and rubbish that would otherwise pollute our landscapes, rivers and oceans. A powerful sign of active environmental protection!
And reforestation is not left out either: With the “Canopy Project”, over 550,000 trees are to be planted this year – habitats for animals, carbon storage for the climate and hope for future generations. All these measures make it clear: change begins locally, grows globally – and then becomes a real movement.
